Anyone have a theory why all the recent films that are against the military failing so dramatically?

Because everyone already knows that hollywood is extremely liberal and against the current administration and their war. There's no way they will churn out a good war film which looks at all sides of the story. It would be like asking Michael Moore to develop a fair documentary. It's simply not going to happen. You know how the movie is going to go before you even go see it. Where's the fun in that?

i'll have it if you narrow your question from 'all the recent films that are against the military' to the specific examples and define 'failing so dramatically'

Hollywood understands that people like controversy. If you want a pro-US forces film go watch Bravo or Lifetime... they will probably focus on the wives of the soldiers who are being abused or who are having trouble coping with the absence of their spouse. Ever since Kubrick was able to hide such a subversive message inside Full Meta Jacket, other directors have be attempting (unsuccessfully) to copy it.

Seriously, if you are looking for pro military films check out Band of Brothers. Hands down one of the greatest TV miniseries of all time... Not the edited one on History. Spielberg and the rest of the producers are currently working on Navy story set in the South Seas during WWII. Don't know if it can live up to BOB, but I have hopes. Might turn my HBO back on for that one.
